Hi, I’m Amanda — a Licensed Veterinary Nurse based in Michigan. I work full-time in a small animal practice, where I’ve had the privilege of helping pets and their people navigate everything from routine care to surgery and through emergencies.

At home, life is just as full of animals. I share my days with my husband, son, and our crew of five dogs — Hank, Mater, and Preacher (Labradors), Yooper (Pudelpointer), and Buckley, our certified couch potato. When I’m not in the clinic, you’ll usually find me working on our small family farm and spending time with my family in our barn full of chickens and pigs.

I started Before the Vet because I saw a gap that so many pet parents experience. I’ve watched clients rush to the emergency room for things that could have waited — and others hesitate when their pet truly needed immediate care. I’ve also seen how overwhelming it can be to know what questions to ask or how to advocate for your pet, or even how to fully understand a diagnosis after an appointment.

I created this space to help bridge that gap.

Before the Vet is here to offer thoughtful, honest guidance — helping you better understand what’s going on with your pet and what your next steps might be. My goal is simple: to support you in making confident, informed decisions for your pet’s care.

Because your pets aren’t just animals, they're family. They rely on you and you deserve the support to help with their care. 🐾
